Why You Must Test Your Display Before the Warranty Expires

Apple's Liquid Retina XDR displays (found in modern 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models) feature over 10,000 Mini-LED backlights across 2,500 local dimming zones.

However, microscopic manufacturing defects can result in:

  • Dead Pixels: Pixels where all three subpixels (Red, Green, Blue) receive no power, appearing as permanent black specks on bright backgrounds.
  • Stuck Pixels: A single subpixel permanently locked in an ON state, appearing as a bright green, red, or magenta dot on dark screens.
  • Backlight Bleed & Dimming Halos: Light leaking around dark high-contrast edges in low-light environments.
