What is Base64 and Why Is It NOT Encryption?

Security Reminder: Base64 is an encoding format, NOT encryption. Anyone can decode a Base64 string in one millisecond. Never store raw passwords in Base64.

Base64 is an algorithm designed to translate arbitrary binary data (like images or encrypted keys) into an ASCII character set consisting of 64 printable characters (A-Z, a-z, 0-9, +, /). This allows binary data to safely travel across text-only protocols (like email MIME or JSON strings) without byte corruption.
